With the ES 250 having joined the LS for the Lexus brand's genesis, the ES shares an equal position as the longest-running nameplate in Lexus history.
Now entering its third decade and seventh generation, the Lexus ES has enjoyed its status as luxury automaker's best-selling sedan for more than half its existence. Today, the Lexus ES is divided into three powertrain-based, of which the 350 and the 300h are the two most popular. Here's a quick look at some of their distinguishing characteristics:
- ES 350: The principle nameplate of the ES lineup, the 350 finds its motivation in a robust 3.5-liter powerplant that churns out 302 horsepower and 267 pound-feet of torque. And with its purpose-tuned suspension, plush cabin, and array of convenience amenities, it delivers a compelling blend of engaging driving dynamics and cruising comfort.
- ES 300h: For Washington DC drivers seeking a luxurious commute that prioritizes efficiency, there's the Lexus ES 300h. This standard hybrid pairs a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with an electric motor for a total system output of 215 horsepower and 163 pound-feet of torque and an EPA-estimated 44 mpg combined. Like the ES 350, it comes standard with an 8-inch infotainment system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, power front seats, a sunroof, and a 10-speaker audio system. It also includes a full suite of advanced driver-assistance technologies like collision mitigation, lane-keeping, and adaptive cruise control.
